So am I, but I can not afford any of these downtown Dallas developments yet but I will probably move into Downtown Garlands Trammel Crow project before moving into Downtown Dallas. At least in Downtown Garland Downtown Dallas will just be a DART train ride away!

That is a prime corner. This is one of the busiest intersections for traffic during the day and night, since there are two hotels, an office tower, a residential tower and Pegasus Plaza all at Heck there is even assorted retail nearby and none of this is connected to the tunnels. This is starting to become one of Dallas's best pedestrian areas.

Garland has a downtown? I bet it's more like snyder plaza or a HP village than an actual downtown like Dallas' :2lol:

No more of a response is necessary to that comment on this thread anyways it just depends on your definition of the word "downtown" which apparently is different than my list of qualifications.

So I can't wait to be one of the first to eat at the Jason's Deli at Gulf States. Finally another place that I will probably frequent on Main street besides my self guided of tours construction as a regular attending El Centro student. Its that time a year again and I am glad to be a regular in Downtown Dallas again.

I like the way the building has come together. Its a great addition to the Main Street Corridor. My only concern ( and I realize they are still constructing) is the breaking of the sidewalk planes infront of the CVS. This is really not required, and they could have played with grading to make the sidewalk continous with no breaks/steps in front. For the pedestrian's experience in a downtown center, I just don't think that was a good idea. You break the flow of walking by doing this. Plus the steps are very shallow which makes it hard to see with all the staining and patterned concrete.

Funny how this is actually a valid statement even though we are talking about MAIN STREET. It would seem this would be a no-brainer, but no, not yet in Dallas. Good progress though!!

Where exactly is Jason's Deli going in?

The completely new building (with the parking garage) is coming along nicely. They have filled up the pool, which looks awesome. I'll bring my camera tomorrow and snap a few pictures from my friend's office. It has a nice view.

I noticed today the more defined mid-block pedestrian crossings a great addition since you have to bounce back and fourth right now across the streets to avoid the construction. The curbs for the ped crossings were there but at some point in the last few months the added the metal light fixtures to each side to add emphasis.

I thought i would update you to what is going on at the Third Rail Lofts. I am a current resident. So here we go. Yes in fact the offices have moved downstairs. You can now enter them off of main street instead of akard. Now in place of the offices is going a Chase bank. Which should be done in October. The CVS should be done around then to if not before, they have finished all the workd. Now they just need shelving and product. Jason Deli will be next to CVS closer to the Davis building it will all the way threw the building meaning it will start on Main st and come out on Elm. On Main there will be a little place to eat outside. Which will be nice. The Terrace on the 9th floor is coming along very nice. They did fill the pool then drained it to make sure everything was good and it came out perfect. It should be open in about three weeks depending on weather and contracters. The parking garage is almost done to it should be open by mid week next week. With the first 6 levels being for everybody and the 7th and 8th being for residents. The garage is actually very roomy once you get inside but i think they might have a problem with some of the turns. There is a good chance for some low spead headons. The bowling ally is also almost done they are just tighting up some loose ends, there is also pool table in the room and they are talking about getting a jukebox(maybe). Thats about all that is new but feel free to ask if you have any other questions.

Yep, it's going to be a Chase Bank branch. Grrr. That's a primo corner.

Edit: This will be the 5th Chase Bank branch in 75201-downtown. Closes weekdays at 5:30PM, closed on weekends.

Chase in the Bank One Tower is going to be converted to Comerica along with the ATMs here pretty soon. That will lower the total down.

It would be nice if some of these residential redos would come with a nice roof top lawn & garden instead of a pool and "open air tanning salon."

si. facing west, they look slightly beneath the brim of the metropolitan garage.... so, not much of a view unless you're above 12 or so... better than a kick in the pants, tho..

But you would think that Downtown would be a better locale for a 24-hour pharmacy than most other places in the metroplex... But maybe it's a little too soon for that.

i could care less about the pharmacy itself.. it has separate hours anyway.... i'm talking about the convenient side... it should be open 24hrs just like any other cvs in a popular area...... and if there is one intersection in dtd that could support a 24 store, its this one....

trust me.... we need this just like we needed urban market.

I asked today and the only thing closing in the West End is the pharmacy. The 1001 Ross location is staying open until 8 and the only thing leaving is the pharmacy. Sweet!

FYI, CVS is a very urban smart company. You will find them in a lot of downtowns and urban areas across the country. They know what they are doing.
