I don't care if your favorite desitnation is right down the street of on the edge of North Central Texas. I just wanted to know what people enjoy.
Being a nature and animal lover, i have two places i just love going to. FW Nature Center and Fossil Rim Wildlife Park. And because i have just taken up the hobby of photography these two will become bigger players.
The nature center is close to my home and there is lots to explore.
Fossil Rim is about hour south of Downtown FW. I go there about 2 to 3 times a year.

Have you ever been to the Dallas Nature Center?
I like the Ft. Worth Nature Center for it's size. It is huge.
But in the category of outright beauty, visit the Dallas Nature Center. It is set in the cliffs and valleys of the White Rock Escarpment off of Mountain Creek Parkway. The trails rock! You go up the cliff, then down the cliff. Then up the cliff and back down. Over and over. In and out of Cedar Forests. I see quite a few people who actually run them.
There are also two climbing towers at the top of the cliffs that give you sweeping views of Joe Pool Lake.
Most of the trails are on the white rock so there is not very much dirt or mud. Sometimes in the summer, the reflection from the white rock is so bright, it is surreal.

I've been by it, but never have gone through it. So i know right where it is. I will certainly make that a goal to get there. Sound excellent.

Garrett,
I completely forget about White Rock Lake. That is an awesome place. Great for photography. There is a photo at every turn.

Katy Trail, Turtle Creek, White Rock Lake, Richardson...the most diverse city in the metroplex (to visit my parents and shop at all the Indian, Vietnamese, and other asian stores), Milo's for Monday Night Football, Campisi's, Plucker's, Lower Greenville for Wednesday night $1 pint night at the Blarney Stone, AAC to see the Stars play...and downtown Dallas of course, to soak up the increasingly impressive urban atmosphere. Although I'm sure I'm leaving something off the list...

Where do you park your car to walk the Katy Trails? That's another thing I've wanted to visit.

American Airlines Center is a good spot if no one is using it. Or over by West Village you can park in a field.
Or park at Reverchon Park and climb the Hill. Great views of Turtle Creek from the top! See the awesome stone pathways and picnic areas that were built by the WPA and only recently uncovered. It all used to be hidden by brush and vines.

Since I live at the Marquis on McKinney, I walk to the trail entrance at the "hole on Cole" (i.e., empty lot at Cole and Lemmon), but you can also park there...lots of people do...that's where I would suggest parking. You should definitely check it out...it is one of Dallas' best assets and most successful redevelopment projects.

Beware the piece of metal sticking out of ground in the middle of the entrance to that lot.
I bashed in my radiator big-time. Is the owner liable for that?

Beware the piece of metal sticking out of ground in the middle of the entrance to that lot.
You should've driven through the 3 foot deep hole of water instead.
