OK everyone-- this is just an idea and I wanted to get some feedback. It seems as though the majority of us have a big passion for developing Downtown and Dallas in general. I've always thought Dallas has too many dreamers and not enough doer's (people to take action and hold others accountable for the lack of action- like city council members).. What if we formed an action committee that would form a hand in helping some of these projects get off the ground. We could be the 1st to REALLY take action on issues like Downtown and the Trinity River Corridor. I want to help so bad it just kills me. If I was rich I'd make an investment in my city. I think if we work together and generate ideas we could present them to the city and developers alike. We could be the focus for downtown and other developmtns and help spread the word to everyone!!! What does everyone think? Feel free to mail me your thoughts to Shane@KelleyUSA.com

While I am not in urban planning, architecture or anything of the sort, I am a huge proponent of Dallas and DFW in general. Like you said, if I had the money to do it I would, but I am but a poor marketing schmuck. Alright, enough about me.
I am on board with doing what we can to push these issues forward. My thinking is if it does not happen soon, it never will. If this is something you want to do, keep me posted as I am very interested (sbrown23@worldnet.att.net).
Just an aside, I was in San Antonio this weekend and kep thinking why is is that every big city in Texas has (or is in the midst of building) strong downtowns. The one that is lacking is Dallas and that is a shame. I guess either things will being to take shape which I will be extremely excited about, or they won't and I will give up and (gulp) move to somewhere out of the state where downtown life matters (Chicago, Boston, NYC, San Francisco, Seattle, the list goes on and on).

Well LonghornFan,
I have NO knowlwdge of urban planning or architecture either, I was a broadcast journalism major at Texas Tech- but currently work for a family business in the sporting goods industry. However, I certainly don't think you need to be in such fields to know what makes a great city and a thriving downtown. Perhaps I chose the wrong major- but I definitely have a passion for this stuff!!! Perhaps we can get a few other people on board and make this happen!!

I'm all for it!! I would love to be involved in the process and I think that all of the people that contribute to this site all have very unique talents, ideas, and perspectives that they could provide.
While there are already several groups working on revitalizing downtown, I believe this group could provide its own unique take on the situation and help provide some fresh ideas that are not so politically motivated.
We have talked about doing something of the sort before (i.e., love field alignment), but it has never gotten off the ground. I would be all for this! My e-mail is ianbryant@hotmail.com. Let's definitely keep discussing this opportunity.
